The Regis Duffy Bioscience Fund announces it is now accepting Statements of Interest.

Charlottetown, PEI – January 28, 2010 - Ron Keefe, President of the Regis Duffy Bioscience Fund has announced a call for Statements of Interest. The statement is an initial funding application request that is used for preliminary screening and is subject to a review process.

The Fund, established in 2009 is a $1 Million fund created to invest in Bioscience related activities in Prince Edward Island. It was named the Regis Duffy BioScience Fund in recognition of the contributions that Dr. Duffy has made to business and science within the Province.

“This is an opportunity for emerging science based businesses in Prince Edward Island that are at the commercialization or near commercialization stage of their development to receive up to $100,000 in equity,” said Mr. Keefe. “In addition to providing capital, we will also provide administrative assistance and corporate guidance.”

Applicants interested in submitting a statement of interest will be evaluated on the basis of their suitability within the Fund’s mandate, selection criteria and the quality of technology, marketing and business capabilities.
